He completed MBBS at Government Medical College, Calicut, and MS in General Surgery at Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. He then completed MCh in Neurosurgery at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, followed by a PDCC in Advanced Spinal Surgery at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. He also received an Indo-Japanese Skull Base Fellowship.
His procedures include craniovertebral-junction surgery, scoliosis and deformity correction, spinal-tumour surgery, surgery for lumbar and cervical disc disease, minimally invasive fixation, endoscopic spine surgery, vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty and spinal stabilisation. His wider neurosurgical work includes brain-tumour surgery, Chiari malformation surgery, skull-base microsurgery and deep brain stimulation.
Before joining Aster Medcity, Dr Nair worked as a consultant at Lourdes Hospital, Kochi, and earlier served as a Lecturer of General Surgery at Government Medical College, Calicut. He speaks English, Malayalam and Hindi.
