Dr Anvay Mulay is Director of Cardiac Surgery at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital, Mumbai. He has 30+ years of experience, with work spanning cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, heart transplant and paediatric transplant services.
He completed M.B.B.S. in 1983, M.S. in General Surgery in 1986 and M.Ch. in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in 1989 from the University of Mumbai. He later undertook MRCS cardiothoracic training and an International Fellowship in Cardiac Surgery at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Portland, Oregon, USA, followed by work as a consultant at Leeds General Infirmary in the UK.
His areas of expertise include total arterial minimally invasive CABG, minimally invasive valve surgery, valve-sparing root replacement, aortic surgery, pulmonary endarterectomy, ventricular-device implantation and surgery for ascending and thoraco-abdominal aneurysms. His specialist work also includes heart and heart-lung transplantation.
Dr Mulay started cardiac-surgery programmes in Maharashtra and established a comprehensive minimally invasive programme in 2010. His team has performed 160+ heart transplants. He is a member of IACTS, the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland, and the American Medical Association.
