Dr. Danny Joy

Dr. Danny Joy is a Consultant in Hepatopancreatobiliary and Liver Transplant Surgery, with nine years of experience in HPB surgery and liver transplantation. His practice includes adult and paediatric transplantation, complex liver and pancreatic surgery and minimally invasive gastrointestinal procedures.

His areas of expertise include liver transplantation, liver and bile-duct cancer surgery, pancreatic surgery and treatment of acute or chronic pancreatitis. He has a particular interest in paediatric liver transplantation and vascular reconstruction techniques used in living-donor liver transplantation.

His work also includes portal-hypertension surgery, biliary reconstruction, complex liver resections and minimally invasive HPB procedures. Treatment planning is coordinated with hepatology, radiology, anaesthesia, critical care and oncology teams to address surgical risk, graft suitability and long-term liver function.

Dr. Danny completed MBBS and MS in General Surgery, followed by MCh in GI Surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He subsequently undertook advanced fellowship training in HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation.

His academic interests include transplant oncology, portal-inflow modulation, peri-transplant optimisation and metabolic liver disease. He presented work on portal-vein plasty techniques in paediatric liver transplantation at LTSICON 2024 and has participated in multiple research projects in GI and HPB surgery. He ranked first in the MCh entrance examination at AIIMS New Delhi.
