Prof Dr Debashish Chowdhury is Vice Chairman and Academic Head of Neurology at BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi. He has more than 40 years of experience in neurological care and teaching.
He completed MBBS and MD in Internal Medicine at Maulana Azad Medical College and a DM in Neurology at G. B. Pant Hospital. He later trained in headache disorders at Cambridge in 2001 and completed a stroke medicine fellowship in Edinburgh in 2003.
His interests include chronic and resistant migraine, stroke treatment, advanced epilepsy care, demyelinating disorders and Alzheimer's disease. His stroke work includes thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy. He has contributed to research on headache burden, cluster headache and migraine.
Before BLK-Max he was director professor and head of neurology at G. B. Pant Hospital. He belongs to the Indian Academy of Neurology and the International Headache Society. His honours include a distinguished alumnus award from Maulana Azad Medical College in 2022 and an IAN presidential oration in 2024.
