His further training included a post-doctoral fellowship at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital, London, and a Fulbright Scholarship in the United States.

His specialist interests include blood stem cell and bone marrow transplantation, multiple myeloma, chronic myeloid leukaemia and other haematological malignancies. Artemis also lists work in ovarian and cervical cancers and research involving neoadjuvant chemotherapy in gynaecological malignancies.

His honours include the Padma Shri (2014) and Dr B.C. Roy Award (2008), as well as awards from the Indian Council of Medical Research and Ranbaxy Science Foundation. He speaks English and Hindi and is linked with professional and academic organisations in India and the United Kingdom.
