Dr. Rajiv Parakh

Dr. Rajiv Parakh is Chairman - Peripheral Vascular and Endovascular Sciences at Medanta, Gurugram. He completed his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom in 1986 and trained in vascular surgery there before returning to India. In 1990, he established one of India’s early independent departments dedicated to vascular surgery.

His practice focuses on peripheral vascular and endovascular surgery, including carotid artery surgery and stenting, peripheral open and endovascular procedures, and peripheral angioplasty. His current Medanta profile also lists treatment of varicose veins using EVLT, radiofrequency ablation and VenaSeal, allowing the approach to be selected according to venous anatomy and clinical findings.

Dr. Parakh also works in dialysis vascular access and endovascular aneurysm repair. Medanta lists Permacath placement, AV fistula and AV graft procedures, fistula salvage, EVAR, embolisation of vascular malformations and vascular-trauma management among his areas of expertise. These procedures cover both chronic vascular disease and complex cases requiring catheter-based or open surgical treatment.

He is a founder member of the Vascular Society of India and the Endo-Vascular Intervention Society of India, and a life member of the Society for Vascular Surgery. He was elected Secretary of the International Society for Vascular Surgery in New York in 2007 and helped establish the first government-recognised NBE teaching programme in vascular surgery.
