Dr. V. Narayanan Unni

Dr. V. Narayanan Unni is Senior Consultant and HOD of Nephrology, with more than 35 years of experience in kidney medicine. His practice spans adult and paediatric nephrology, hypertension, dialysis and kidney transplantation, including complex transplant evaluation and long-term renal follow-up.

His clinical focus includes kidney transplantation, diabetic kidney disease, paediatric renal disorders and all major forms of dialysis. He manages chronic kidney disease, difficult hypertension, transplant candidates, post-transplant patients and children with renal conditions.

His experience also includes high-risk nephrology decisions where dialysis modality, transplant timing, comorbidity and long-term kidney function need to be considered together.

Dr. Unni holds FRCP, FISN, DM in Nephrology, DNB, MD in General Medicine and MBBS qualifications. He has been awarded fellowships by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the International Society of Nephrology and the Indian Society of Nephrology. He has served as President of the Nephrology Association of Kerala and as a key opinion leader in kidney transplantation for the International Transplantation Society.

His academic record includes 85 publications in international and Indian medical journals, textbook chapters and extensive postgraduate examination work in nephrology. He has examined trainees for DM Nephrology and national-board programmes and has delivered invited lectures at national and international meetings.
