Dr. Vivek Rajendran

Dr. Vivek Rajendran is a Consultant in Hepatopancreatobiliary and Liver Transplant Surgery, with advanced training in complex liver, biliary and pancreatic surgery. He trained at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, a high-volume centre for liver disease and transplantation, and has a strong academic interest in transplant and hepatobiliary research.

His clinical expertise includes living-donor liver transplantation, ABO-incompatible liver transplantation and surgery for hepatocellular carcinoma. His broader practice covers complex HPB procedures, liver tumours, biliary disease and transplant-related surgery, with treatment planning based on liver function, tumour biology, vascular anatomy and donor-recipient considerations.

He also has training in surgical robotics using the Medtronic HUGO RAS platform, supporting minimally invasive approaches in selected cases.

Dr. Vivek completed MBBS, MS in General Surgery and MCh in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery. His research work includes publications on living-donor liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma and pancreaticoduodenectomy in severely jaundiced patients, as well as conference presentations on ABO-incompatible transplantation, donor graft injury and recurrence risk after transplant for liver cancer.

He received the Young Mentor Award from the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences in 2019 and completed HUGO robotic-surgery training in 2023. He may be relevant for patients considering living-donor liver transplantation, ABO-incompatible transplantation or complex surgery for liver and biliary malignancies. His practice combines detailed transplant assessment, oncologic decision-making and long-term follow-up within a multidisciplinary liver-care programme.
