Peripheral Angioplasty: общие сведения

Peripheral angioplasty in India is a minimally invasive endovascular procedure used to restore blood flow through narrowed or blocked arteries outside the heart, most commonly in the legs. It may be considered for selected patients with lifestyle-limiting claudication despite appropriate medical therapy or with chronic limb-threatening ischaemia, including rest pain, non-healing ulcers or tissue loss.

Assessment usually includes vascular examination and ankle-brachial index and duplex ultrasound, with CT angiography, MR angiography or catheter angiography used to define the lesion when revascularisation is being planned. Kidney function, diabetes, smoking history, current medicines and previous vascular procedures also influence treatment planning.

During angioplasty, a catheter-mounted balloon is used to widen the diseased arterial segment. Depending on the artery and lesion, treatment may also involve stenting or other endovascular vessel-preparation techniques. Angioplasty does not cure systemic atherosclerosis, so antiplatelet therapy when indicated, lipid lowering, smoking cessation, diabetes management, exercise and long-term vascular follow-up remain important. Sudden severe limb pain, coldness, pallor, numbness or weakness can indicate acute limb ischaemia and requires immediate local emergency assessment rather than planned medical travel.

Cost in India depends on the number and location of arterial segments treated, balloons and stents or other devices used, angiographic imaging, anaesthesia or sedation, hospital stay and wound-care needs. Tertiary vascular centres in India can provide vascular surgery, interventional radiology or endovascular expertise and open bypass when angioplasty is not the best option. Medical Help India can connect international patients with an appropriate healthcare partner to review vascular imaging and symptoms, compare revascularisation options and provide an individual hospital estimate.

Часто задаваемые вопросы

How much does Peripheral Angioplasty cost in India?

Cost depends on the number and location of arterial segments treated, balloons and stents or other devices used, angiographic imaging, anaesthesia or sedation, hospital stay and wound-care needs. Complex multilevel disease or treatment that requires open bypass has a different cost pathway.

Which medical reports are useful to have ready for Peripheral Angioplasty?

Have ready: vascular notes, ankle-brachial index and duplex results, CT or MR angiography or catheter angiography when available, kidney-function tests and current medicines. Include diabetes and smoking history, previous angioplasty, stents or bypass surgery and any rest pain, ulcers, tissue loss or wound-care records.

What does peripheral angioplasty treat?

It opens selected narrowed or blocked arteries outside the heart, most commonly arteries supplying the legs.

Is a stent always needed during peripheral angioplasty?

No. Stenting depends on the artery, lesion characteristics and the result after balloon treatment.

Does angioplasty cure peripheral artery disease?

No. Atherosclerosis remains a systemic disease, so risk-factor treatment and follow-up are still necessary.
