Surgery of Nails: общие сведения

Nail surgery in India includes minor procedures for selected fingernail and toenail disorders such as recurrent ingrown nails, painful nail deformity, traumatic nail-bed injury, persistent infection or a suspicious nail lesion that requires biopsy. Treatment should address the underlying diagnosis rather than simply removing the nail.

Assessment by a dermatologist, podiatric/foot specialist, plastic surgeon or hand surgeon depends on the site and problem. The clinician examines the nail plate, nail folds and matrix and considers fungal testing, bacterial culture, dermoscopy, X-ray or biopsy when clinically indicated. Procedures can include partial nail avulsion, chemical or surgical matrixectomy for recurrent ingrown nails, drainage of an abscess, nail-bed repair after trauma, or biopsy/excision of a nail-unit lesion.

Most procedures use local anaesthesia and are performed as day care. Risks include bleeding, infection, delayed healing, recurrence, altered nail growth and permanent nail deformity when the matrix is intentionally treated or damaged. Rapidly spreading redness, fever, severe pain, tissue discoloration or infection in a patient with diabetes or poor circulation needs prompt local assessment. Suspicious pigmented or destructive nail lesions should not be treated cosmetically before an appropriate diagnosis is established.

Cost in India depends on the diagnosis, number of nails treated, biopsy or pathology, local anaesthesia, matrix treatment, imaging when needed and follow-up wound care. Specialist dermatology, foot-and-ankle, plastic and hand-surgery services are available at established Indian hospitals and clinics. Medical Help India can connect international patients with an appropriate healthcare partner to review records or photographs securely, identify the relevant specialist and obtain an individual estimate.

Часто задаваемые вопросы

How much does Surgery Of Nails cost in India?

Cost depends on the diagnosis, number of nails treated, partial versus complete avulsion, matrix treatment, biopsy or pathology, local anaesthesia and follow-up wound care. A minor ingrown-nail procedure and excision of a suspicious nail-unit lesion require different estimates.

Which medical reports are useful to have ready for Surgery Of Nails?

Have ready: dermatology, foot, hand or surgical notes if available, previous treatment records and relevant photographs through the healthcare partner's secure process. Include diabetes, circulation problems, immune suppression, anticoagulants, recurrent infection and any previous nail surgery or pathology results.

Does an ingrown toenail always require surgery?

No. Mild or first-time cases may improve with conservative care. Recurrent, severely painful or infected ingrown nails may need partial nail removal with treatment of the responsible nail matrix.

Will the nail grow back after nail surgery?

It depends on the procedure. After simple avulsion the nail can regrow, while matrixectomy intentionally prevents part or all of the treated nail from growing back to reduce recurrence.

When does a nail lesion need biopsy rather than routine removal?

Persistent pigmented, destructive, bleeding or otherwise suspicious nail-unit lesions may require specialist assessment and biopsy so infection, inflammatory disease and tumours are not mistaken for a routine nail problem.
