TEVAR: общие сведения
Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) in India is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat selected diseases of the descending thoracic aorta, including aneurysms, complicated aortic dissections and certain traumatic aortic injuries. A covered stent graft is introduced through an artery, usually in the groin, and positioned inside the diseased segment of the aorta to redirect blood flow and reduce pressure on the weakened wall.
Before treatment, patients usually undergo CT angiography and specialist cardiovascular or vascular-surgery assessment to evaluate aortic anatomy, landing zones, branch vessels and access arteries. The team also reviews kidney function, cardiac and respiratory fitness and whether open surgery or medical management may be more appropriate.
TEVAR avoids a large chest incision but remains a major vascular procedure. Risks can include bleeding, endoleak, stroke, kidney injury, spinal-cord ischaemia and the need for later reintervention. Long-term imaging surveillance is essential after treatment.
