О больнице Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Kochi
Amrita Hospital, Kochi is a private multidisciplinary hospital at Ponekkara in Kochi, Kerala. Mata Amritanandamayi Devi laid its cornerstone in 1998. The hospital has more than 1,300 beds and forms part of the Amrita Hospitals network. Patient care is combined with medical education and research at the Kochi campus.
Clinical services cover anaesthesiology and critical care, cardiac anaesthesia, craniomaxillofacial surgery, dermatology, emergency medicine, gastroenterology, hepatology, reproductive medicine and fertility care. The hospital also provides a broad range of medical and surgical specialties for patients who need assessment by more than one department. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy and bilateral hand transplantation are among its specialised services.
The hospital has more than 128 items of medical equipment. Critical-care services include anaesthesia, intensive care and support for acute and chronic pain. Diagnostic, surgical and inpatient facilities allow different specialist teams to coordinate care for complex conditions. The hospital’s history includes a bilateral hand transplant performed in 2015.
The Kochi hospital's website lists further departments and clinics. The Department of Neonatology, accredited as Level III by the National Neonatology Forum, India, has operated since April 2002 and cares for high-risk newborns, including preterm infants from 23 weeks of gestation. Paediatric services also include paediatric emergency care, paediatric infectious diseases, paediatric genetics and a paediatric pulmonary and critical care department. The Department of General Surgery was formed in 2002 and includes a division for thyroid, parathyroid and breast services.
Other listed services include a department of integrative medicine that combines allopathic medicine, Ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, a nuclear medicine department that uses radioactive tracers for diagnosis and treatment, and a Comprehensive Andrology and Male Sexual Health Clinic covering male fertility and hormonal balance. The emergency medicine department runs a three-year postgraduate training programme (MD Emergency Medicine), and a department of infectious diseases provides diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infections.
Amrita Hospital may be relevant for patients who need multidisciplinary assessment, critical care, complex surgery, digestive and liver care, reproductive medicine or reconstructive treatment. The wide range of departments can be useful when diagnosis or treatment requires input from several medical and surgical specialists.
