Knee Arthroscopy: общие сведения

Knee arthroscopy in India is a minimally invasive operation that uses a small camera and instruments inserted through small incisions to diagnose and treat selected problems inside the knee. It can be appropriate for certain meniscal tears, loose bodies, focal cartilage lesions, synovial problems and ligament-related procedures, but it is not a routine treatment for uncomplicated degenerative knee osteoarthritis.

Assessment is led by a knee or sports-orthopaedic specialist and includes clinical examination and appropriate imaging, usually MRI with weight-bearing X-rays when arthritis or alignment is relevant. The surgeon should confirm that symptoms such as locking, instability or focal joint-line pain correlate with a treatable structural lesion. Many degenerative meniscal findings can be managed non-operatively when they are not causing a clear mechanical problem.

Depending on the diagnosis, arthroscopy may involve meniscal repair or selective meniscectomy, loose-body removal, cartilage treatment, synovectomy or part of a ligament reconstruction. Rehabilitation differs substantially by procedure: a meniscal repair generally requires more protection than a limited meniscectomy. Risks include infection, blood clots, stiffness, cartilage injury and persistent symptoms.

Cost in India depends on the exact arthroscopic procedure, repair implants or fixation devices, anaesthesia, hospital or day-care charges and rehabilitation. Combined ligament or cartilage reconstruction has a different cost and recovery pathway from a limited diagnostic or meniscal procedure.

India has tertiary orthopaedic and sports-medicine centres with knee surgeons, MRI, arthroscopy systems and structured physiotherapy. Medical Help India is a connection platform that can connect medically stable international patients with an appropriate healthcare partner to review MRI and X-rays, assess whether arthroscopy or non-operative treatment is appropriate and provide an individual treatment and cost estimate.

Часто задаваемые вопросы

How much does Knee Arthroscopy cost in India?

The cost of Knee Arthroscopy in India depends on the hospital, specialist team, investigations, treatment complexity and any additional care required. A final estimate is usually prepared after a healthcare provider reviews your medical records.

Which medical reports are useful to have ready for Knee Arthroscopy?

Have ready: the most recent records you have, such as your diagnosis, doctor’s notes, blood tests, imaging, pathology reports, procedure reports and current medication list. The exact documents needed depend on the treatment and your medical history.

What conditions can knee arthroscopy treat?

Selected meniscal tears, loose bodies, cartilage lesions and some ligament-related conditions can be treated arthroscopically.

Is arthroscopy recommended for advanced knee arthritis?

Routine arthroscopy is generally not useful for advanced degenerative osteoarthritis unless there is another specific treatable mechanical problem.

How long is recovery after knee arthroscopy?

Recovery depends on the procedure performed; simple debridement and meniscal repair, for example, have very different weight-bearing and rehabilitation timelines.
