Upper GI endoscopy in India, also called gastroscopy or oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD/EGD), is a diagnostic procedure used to examine the oesophagus, stomach and first part of the duodenum with a flexible camera. It may be recommended for persistent upper-abdominal pain, swallowing difficulty, reflux with alarm features, gastrointestinal bleeding, unexplained anaemia, vomiting or follow-up of known upper-GI disease.
